Babylon 5: The Road Home cast welcomes new and returning cast members from J. Michael Straczynski’s sci-fi series.
Get ready, Babylon 5 fans. Your ship is about to come in! The new animated film, Babylon 5: The Road Home, is prepared to announce its voice cast, with some old friends returning for a new interstellar adventure.
Babylon 5: The Road Home continues J. Michael Straczynski’s story started in 1990. The official plot states, “Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way he reunites with some familiar faces, while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, original Babylon 5 cast members returning for Babylon 5: The Road Home include Bruce Boxleitner as John Sheridan, Claudia Christian as Susan Ivanova, Peter Jurasik as Londo Mollari, Bill Mumy as Lennier, Tracy Scoggins as Elizabeth Lochley and Patricia Tallman as Lyta Alexander.
Other actors who will lend their voices to the animated feature include Paul Guyet as Zathras and Jeffery Sinclair, Anthony Hansen as Michael Garibaldi, Mara Junot as Reporter and Computer Voice, Phil LaMarr as Dr. Stephen Franklin, Piotr Michael as David Sheridan, Andrew Morgado as G’Kar, and Rebecca Riedy as Delenn.
Matt Peters (Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons) directs from a script by Straczynski, who also executive produces. Rick Morales is the project’s supervising producer, with Sam Register executive producing.
Babylon 5 follows “the human military staff and alien diplomats stationed on a space station, Babylon 5, built in the aftermath of several major inter-species wars as a neutral ground for galactic diplomacy and trade. Major plotlines included Babylon 5’s embroilment in a millennial cyclic conflict between ancient races, inter-race wars and their aftermaths, and intra-race intrigue and upheaval. The human characters, in particular, become pivotal to the resistance against Earth’s descent into totalitarianism.”
Straczynski talked about Babylon 5: The Road Home extensively on social media when the project was announced last week, saying the movie is “classic Babylon 5: raucous, heartfelt, nonstop, a ton of fun through time and space, and a love letter to the fans. I’m ridiculously excited about it because it feels the most B5-ish of anything we’ve done since the original show. Warners was terrific in giving me the freedom to write the story I wanted, and the animation is phenomenal. It’s fun, deep, emotional, classic B5.”
