Hypnotic: poster unveiled for Robert Rodriguez, Ben Affleck thriller

A poster has been unveiled for the Robert Rodriguez / Ben Affleck thriller Hypnotic, coming to theatres in May

Director Robert Rodriguez‘s action thriller Hypnotic, which stars Ben Affleck (Air), has taken a bumpy road on its way out into the world. It was delayed by the pandemic, shut down on three separate occasions, mixed up in an insurance lawsuit, and its main financier and distributor crumbled while it was filming. The movie spent two years in post-production, without a domestic distributor in place. But now it’s set to reach theatres on May 12th, courtesy of Ketchup Entertainment, and the folks at Screen Rant have gotten the exclusive first look at the final poster for the film. You can check it out at the bottom of this article. They also have a teaser poster you can see at THIS LINK.

Scripted by Rodriguez (Machete) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Hypnotic sees Affleck taking on the role of a detective who finds himself spiralling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending crimes mysteriously connected to his missing daughter. Aided by a gifted psychic, he is pursued by a lethal specter who he believes holds the key to finding his daughter. But more rabbit holes await.

Affleck is joined in the cast by Alice Braga (I Am Legend), J.D. Pardo (Mayans MC), Hala Finley (We Can Be Heroes), Dayo Okeniyi (Shades of Blue), Jeff Fahey (Lost), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), and William Fichtner (Drive Angry).

Rodriguez has described Hypnotic as “a Hitchcock thriller on steroids… It’s that kind of a movie. A lot of twists, a lot of turns. Very exciting. It’s one of my favorite stories. I started writing it back in 2002. So it’s one of the ones I’ve had the longest that I’ve been wanting to do.

Are you a fan of Rodriguez and/or Affleck, and are you interested in seeing Hypnotic? Let us know by leaving a comment below. I’ve been a fan of Affleck’s for a long time and I see anything Rodriguez makes, so I will definitely be watching Hypnotic. A theatrical viewing isn’t likely for me, but I’ll catch up with it on home video.
