Fast X: Alan Ritchson reveals alternate ending of the sequel

Alan Ritchson reveals an alternate ending of Fast X that changes the relationship between two major characters.

MAJOR SPOILERS for Fast X. The latest installment of the Fast & Furious franchise is now playing in theaters. With plenty of twists and turns, Fast X sets the stage for an explosive ending to the entire series, but as with most movies, a few moments wound up on the cutting room floor.

Alan Ritchson plays Aimes in Fast X, the new leader of the agency once run by Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell). Although he initially has his sights set on taking down Dominic Torretto, he eventually starts helping him… or does he? The ending of Fast X reveals that Aimes is a double agent working with Dante (Jason Momoa), but Ritchson told Entertainment Weekly that another version of the conclusion joined Aimes and Dante by blood.

I don’t know if this is divulging too much, but we shot a couple different stories,” Alan Ritchson said. “One was that Jason Momoa’s character and Aimes were blood brothers. They were actually related, and one of the reasons why they were unified was because of their genetic link. There is a version in the editing room of that film, but at the end of the day it was decided that the other version which is what’s in the film now — we learn at the end of the movie that really surprising twist that there was an alliance between them the whole time making him maybe the bad guy — that’s what we’re left with. I wasn’t really sure which version of that was going to live, but I did know that there was a lot of duplicity in the character and that he was ultimately a bad guy, at least for now. We’ll see what the future holds.” Aimes will likely return for Fast X – Part 2, so perhaps the family connection could still be revealed.

The actor told EW that he’s unsure if he’ll be back for the sequel, but “It certainly looks that way. I hope.” Ritchson continued, “There have been a lot of conversations. I’m amped to play the bad guy and put the gas to the floor. Let’s see him try and succeed at what he wants to do. You can decide if he’s bad or not, but, yeah, I’m ready.Fast X is now playing in theaters, so be sure to check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray and let us know what you thought of the film.
